A Dynamic Duo

Sam Lachow and Raz (Raz Simone) are a dynamic duo making incredible music on top of soulful beats, with lyrical content that keeps true to the essence of hip-hop.

When you listen to these two men speak on the microphone, they are portraying a story of their lives that you can easily envision and connect with. They make “feel good” music that addresses the different struggles in life such as failed relationships, discrimination, and poverty with a cup of vodka and some marijuana to paint their picture.

These two Seattle natives are both very talented. Raz, for example, has been known to fuse different musical genres together such as rock, blues, opera, and even movie scores to go along with his raspy voice style. He also prides himself on being authentic with his listeners delivering lyrics that he has personally lived, from his experiences raised in the church to the days he was hustling out in the streets and everything in between.

As talented as Raz is on the microphone, Sam lachow also has received praise for his skills. He has been compared to mainstream popular artists like Mac Miller, Asher Roth and Macklemore. Sam is also a talented producer, songwriter, videographer, and director. Sam has been creating videos since elementary school and has been credited as a director and producer for music videos for other Seattle based artists.

The duo recently released their new EP called 5 Good Reasons. The wonderfully produced composition by Sam Lachow (and also Maggie his co-producer) and the gritty truth in Raz’ lyrics makes 5 Good Reasons a nice download for any fan of hip-hop.  After listening to the EP, listeners have already compared the emcees to Kid Cudi and Kanye West but still notice that they bring their own individual style. With such high praises already being accredited to their names, the future is bright for these two emerging hip-hop artists.

The New Queen of Hip-Hop?

If someone would ask “Who is the current Queen of Hip-Hop?” I would assume most people would say Nicki Minaj and they have a justifiable reason for saying that. She has risen into the mainstream media and made her “Barbie culture” a pop phenomenon with the young girls of today; but if you ask me who is the new “Queen of Hip-Hop?” I would say it is Rapsody.

Rapsody is essentially all about Hip-Hop. Where most female artists rely on their sexual appearance to have their words heard, Rapsody relies on her lyrical content to make her known. Not like she couldn’t push her sexuality, she is an attractive woman, but she doesn’t sell herself short with tight dresses and skimpy clothes. She is usually just wearing a nice pair of jeans and a shirt.

Her lyrical wordplay is what makes her even more beautiful. She is incredible when she steps up to the microphone; from her intricate rhymes and metaphors, she will speak inspiration and life to the listener. She notes that Jay-Z, 9th Wonder, Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, and MC Lyte as the individuals from where her sound developed. Her grace of style and flow on a track is incredible, I would recommend that you listen to the track Believe Me for an example of her abilities.

Hip-Hop legends and emerging stars have already taken notice of her talent, where she has shared the stage with stars like Raekwon, Big Daddy Kane, J. Cole, Wale, Colin Munroe, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar and more.

She is a breath of fresh air to the Hip-Hop culture and a promising career is in her future. If you want a great introduction to this amazing emcee, download her free mixtape Thank H.E.R. Now with guest appearances from B.I.G. KRIT, Estelle, Mac Miller and more. If you are impressed, then support her album The Idea of Beautiful that is available on iTunes.
