The New Queen of Hip-Hop?

If someone would ask “Who is the current Queen of Hip-Hop?” I would assume most people would say Nicki Minaj and they have a justifiable reason for saying that. She has risen into the mainstream media and made her “Barbie culture” a pop phenomenon with the young girls of today; but if you ask me who is the new “Queen of Hip-Hop?” I would say it is Rapsody.

Rapsody is essentially all about Hip-Hop. Where most female artists rely on their sexual appearance to have their words heard, Rapsody relies on her lyrical content to make her known. Not like she couldn’t push her sexuality, she is an attractive woman, but she doesn’t sell herself short with tight dresses and skimpy clothes. She is usually just wearing a nice pair of jeans and a shirt.

Her lyrical wordplay is what makes her even more beautiful. She is incredible when she steps up to the microphone; from her intricate rhymes and metaphors, she will speak inspiration and life to the listener. She notes that Jay-Z, 9th Wonder, Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, and MC Lyte as the individuals from where her sound developed. Her grace of style and flow on a track is incredible, I would recommend that you listen to the track Believe Me for an example of her abilities.

Hip-Hop legends and emerging stars have already taken notice of her talent, where she has shared the stage with stars like Raekwon, Big Daddy Kane, J. Cole, Wale, Colin Munroe, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar and more.

She is a breath of fresh air to the Hip-Hop culture and a promising career is in her future. If you want a great introduction to this amazing emcee, download her free mixtape Thank H.E.R. Now with guest appearances from B.I.G. KRIT, Estelle, Mac Miller and more. If you are impressed, then support her album The Idea of Beautiful that is available on iTunes.
